Rhonel T. Aquino is a graduate of Loyola Law School. While in law school, he served in law review as a member of the Loyola of Los Angeles International and Comparative Law Review. Mr. Aquino received his undergraduate degree from Loyola Marymount University. He is the principal attorney for the AQUINO LAW FIRM.
Mr. Aquino has served as the lead litigation and trial attorney in hundreds of civil cases, successfully representing both plaintiffs and defendants in state and federal courts. He has extensive civil litigation experience, with an emphasis in employment law, especially issues pertaining to wrongful termination, discrimination, retaliation, harassment and wage/hour claims. He previously served as an Arbitrator and Judge Pro Tem for the Los Angeles Superior Court. Mr. Aquino has personally represented over five hundred clients since he began practicing law in 1997.
Mr. Aquino is an active member of the State Bar of California. He is currently, or has been a member of the following legal organizations: American Bar Association, Los Angeles County Bar Association (Labor and Employment Law Section), Pasadena Bar Association, Beverly Hills Bar Association, Philippine American Bar Association, Multi-Cultural Bar Association, National Asian Pacific American Bar Association, Consumer Attorneys Association of Los Angeles, California Employment Lawyers Association and State Bar of California (Labor and Employment Law Section member). He served as the President of the Philippine American Bar Association in 2001 and currently sits on its Advisory Board. Mr. Aquino also serves as a member of the California Employment Lawyers Association Diversity Committee. He's been recognized numerous times as one of the "Top Attorneys" by Pasadena Magazine.
Because of Mr. Aquino's extensive civil litigation and legal experience, he has served as a referral/panel attorney for such organizations as the Beverly Hills Bar Association, San Gabriel Valley Bar Association, Hyatt Legal Plans-A MetLife Company, ARAG Legal Insurance, Disability Rights Legal Center, Pre-Paid Legal Services, Inc. and the Legal Grind.
He has more than 33 years of combined legal and non-legal work experience. His legal work experience includes working for the U.S. District Court, Bank of America's legal department and AQUINO & AQUINO, a family-owned law firm once operated by his father and sister, both of whom are also attorneys. His non-legal work experience includes working for large companies such as Wells Fargo Bank, Kodak and Ticor Title Insurance Company.
Mr. Aquino has volunteered his time and donated monetarily to the following worthy legal organizations: Legal Aid Foundation of Los Angeles, Asian Pacific American Legal Center (now, Asian American Advancing Justice) and the Harriet Buhai Center for Family Law. He also supports organizations such as the Downs Syndrome Association of Los Angeles and disabled veterans groups.
